EXPRESSIVE WATERCOLOR BIRDS
BY JOANNE BOON THOMAS
Here's the official trailer, for this course, from the ArtTutor members site:
In this course Joanne is going to show you how to paint Birds in a loose expressive watercolour style. To build your confidence she starts with a monochromatic painting of a Wren, to help you get to grips with tonal value and contrast. Moving on Joanne will paint a festive Robin, aiming to show you how to loosen up your approach to watercolours.
Next, Joanne will use only three colours to paint a cheeky Blue Tit, demonstrating that a limited palette is affected in creating a striking and engaging image. Finally she brings all the techniques together in an expressive painting of a Humming Bird that's dynamic and vibrant painting.

Exquisite! I often get stuck after the first wash. But I love how you used minimal touches and shadows to turn that 2D bird and flower into an exciting 3D work of art. Thanks.
Very encouraging..... simple and fun, and so expressive! Lots of detail in the teaching at a nice easy pace.
Thank you, Joanne, for such a lovely little bird. Your loose style is amazing & encouraging. I particularly enjoyed the splashing techniques and background forms. More birds, please!
