If you've ever wanted to have a go at painting with gouache, or wondered how it differs from watercolours, then join John Cox as he reveals the techniques you need to get started.
Gouache is exciting, forgiving and extremely versatile to use. On the surface, it's similar to watercolour. But whereas with traditional watercolour you have to work from light to dark, using transparent washes, gouache allows you to apply lighter tones and tints on top of darker ones.
This is great for painting detail and with the ability to rework dried paint simply by re-wetting it, colours can be played with and altered and built upon, to achieve your desired effect.
During this course, you're going to learn the materials you need to get started and the basic techniques to get familiar with gouache - like wet-in-wet, wet on dry, mixing, dark on light and right on dark. John will also cover gouache's limitation and some of the exciting opportunities it presents.
Then you'll apply those techniques to couple of painting subjects that are ideal for making use of gouache's unique characteristics.
So come and join us in Getting Started with Gouache and start to explore this exciting medium today!
